This is one of Buddhist altar parts called "Shokudai" (candle stand) in a crane and a turtle. This style of Shokudai has been accepted since 1500's, Muromachi period. It is one of Mitsu-Gusoku (candlestick, flower vase and incense burner) and was decoration for a house at the very beginning. However it has been accepted by Shin Shu Otani Sect as one of Buddhist altar. Please look at their bills. One is opne and another is closed. Put the crane with their mouse open on right and another on the left when to be used. It is presumably made in 1950's or before but still in perfect condition overall. There is only rust around the crane's feet naturally made. Please add these wonderful piece to your collection of Japanese Buddhist arts.
