This is an exquisite folk art "Kumiko" wooden panel which is used for a Ranma in an alcove. Besides, this compact size with the frame made of lacquered wood with a glass inserted in the back which is very strange and hardly seen in teh market. A Kumiko is one of famous and traditional folk art in Okawa city, Fukuoka. It is commonly incorporated into fittings such as screens or Shouji. This wooden strips are cut and assembled to form equilateral triangles. It is all hand-made. Please look at the artistic designs composed of lots of triangles. It is wonderful and elegant. It is an old item made presumably in mid 1900's but in perfect condition. Please have this beautiful piece in your room as one of entertainment to look at. If you replace the glass with a stained glass, it would be more beautiful. Normally we would not be able to ship out an item with glass to avoind a breakage but we would like to keep its originality and decided to introudce with a glass.
