This is the perfection of a handicraft art, Temari Ball which is one of famous folkart in Akizuki, Fukuoka Kyushu,. Akizuki is a traditional castle town and therefore called small Kyoto. This ball is different kind of Temari ball from Yanagawa's (item #1571. People began to make this item since mid 1600’s (Edo period) for a family with a daughter to wish that their daughter grow up beautifully and gently like these balls. It takes some time to make each item because it is made one by one so elaborately by hands still now. Naturally there is no same designs in each item. It is made of silk taken from a Hakata Obi(which is a famous Obi in Fukuoka). It is a brandnew item. Size would be various but we would like to introduce 10cm diameter ball this time. Please add this wonderful masterpiece to your collection of Japanese works.
