This is a tasteful Bizen-Yaki tea bowl. A Bizen Yaki is located in Bizen Okayama. It is the oldest kiln of so called the "6 old kilns" in Japan such as Seto, Tokoname, Tanba, Echizen, Shigaraki and Bizen. It has begun since Heian period (800's) and has been enjyoing its prestige with their unique making process. They do not use a glaze and keep their natural way of firing. They take precious of a "Fusion of Fire and Clay" and a naivety that is made by these factors. Therefore, their design is not showy but simply beautiful and sophisticated. It changes its facade depending upon an angle you look from. It is made by a famous potter in Bizen, Mr Koichi Suzuki who was awarded lots of prizes in Japan. It is in mint condition without any flaws. There is no doubt that it becomes one of your proud items of tea bowls. Please enjoy your tea ceremony with this wonderful and artistic piece.
The original wooden box and the original cloth is provided with the artist signature and teh stamp.
