This is a handsome Shiki-Ita made of a black persimmon tree.(mainly grows in Japan or South East Asia only) Please look at the annual ring of the tree in black. (called Beta-Guro) A black persimmon is very strange kind of a tree and therefore it is hardly seen even in these areas. They said that the probability to meet a black persimmon tree is 1/10,000.
It is an old item made assumably in 1970's or before in Hiroshima. There are scars slightly seen the surface and cracks naturally made due to age as shown but as a whole, it is in good condition and looks still beautiful. Please use it for a decoration or practically use as a stand for an ornament or something else.
