This is a wood carving bear made in Hokkaido. It is a typical folkart for Ainu tribe who are the aborigines in Japan. They have their origin back in 1300's and survived to the present time. They started making this kind of folkart to make their living. It was circa made back in 1970's or before. There is no noteworthy damage of any kinds for age but there are hits seen on teh couple of places as shown. Please look at the face of the bear and fish that looks so real. Especially this color of the carving bear is very strange.(normally it is in black) It could be a beautiful ornament at your home.
