This is the perfection of a handicraft art, Temari Ball which is one of famous folkart in Yanagawa, Fukuoka Kyushu. People began to make this item since mid 1600’s (Edo period) for a family with a daughter to wish that their daughter grow up beautifully and gently like these balls. It is a painstaking works and it takes a coupe of weeks to finish each item because it is made one by one so elaborately by hands still now. Naturally there is no same designs in items. The image of this Temari ball is wings of a crane. How beautiful it is! It is made of silk. It is circa made in late 1900’s but have been kept in good condition and luckily there is no stains or color deteriorarion. Size would be various but we put 10cm diameter ball this time. Please keep this wonderful item for your collection of Japanese art.
