Various Tea Bowls

This is Akaraku in Tennmoku shape. Its vivid color and the unique shape is the character of the cup. Akaraku is one of Rakuyaku in red (pink) color. Tennmoku shape is originally coming from China. It is popular among people who are fan about tea ceremony.
This is Hagi -yaki bowl. Mainly it is made in Hagi, Yamaguchi prefercture. The shape of the bowl is Komogai-gata. The character of Hagi-yaki is Kirikodai ( cutting stand ).
This is Agano yaki bowl. It has a 400 yeras history and was designated as one of 7 great kilns in Japan during Edo period. The character of Agano is thin body and several kinds of glaze to apply. The color of this bowl clearly shows its originality. Agano is in Fukuoka Kyushu.
This is Karatsu-yaki with Mishima design called Mishima-garatsu. Mishima design came from Korea and as its design is similar to the mark of the shrine in Mishima, Shizuoka, it became a Mishima design.This design is very famous and popular for a long time.Karatsu-yaki is located in Saga, Karatsu.
This is Koishiwara-yaki. It has started their work since 1682 in Fukuoka Kyushu, taken over technique from an Imari- yaki expert. Basically, their products are for daily use items, so not showy but tasteful. They use lots of glaze as well and some are lusty and beautiful.
This is Oribe style. It is a Japanese originated tea bowl was born in Azuchi-Momoyama period(1573-1603). This style and design was created by Furuta Oribe who was a disciple of Sen-no-Rikyu. he was order by Rikyu to make a new tea bowl and created this bowl according to a history. It is simple but show a profound beauty.
This is Kyo-yaki style. Beautiful designs are character of Kyo-yaki style and this is one of standard ones.Kyo-yaki also has its origin in Kyoto, Japan. The shape is Komogai-gata. Ninsei is most famous design for Kyo-yaki tea bowl.
